Update May-August 2008
Samson had some serious foot problems developing a fungus type disease in between his toes and pads which made it very difficult for him to walk.  A dose of antibiotics did nothing.  Our wonder vet in Marborough Dr Kris is always researching new and different treatment options for Samson.  His suggestion was a course of anti-rejection drugs to try and break the cycle.

Samson had 2 x 13 day treatments of Cyclosporin @ $178 / 13 day treatment.

What an abosolute difference it made, it not only cleared up the slimy fungal infection is cleared up and seem to break the cycle of the Sebacious Adenitis symptons on his feet.

See the photos to the left at the start of the treatment and then after two weeks of treatment.  Samson went from being carried from couch to bean bag to bed to wanting to walk and walk just like he used to.   No-ones smile was bigger than ours (except for Samson).

Update onSamson

After Samson's bout of Pancreatitis and eventual diagnosis of Diabetes he is well on the road to living a full and healthy life.
He is behaving like a two year, fighting fit, back to his old self and wants to walk further and faster than he has done in the last 12 months. So full of beans and has a smile from ear to ear.

He his the best and bravest dog ever and even through all the times that he did not feel so well you could not keep him from going out in the car for his evening drive. We stopped walking him when his paws got bad so after tea we would (and still do religiously) take him out in the car into the bush for his evening drive - he loves hanging out the windows to see if he can spot kangaroos and wallabies hopping through the bush.

You see, when his paws flared up with their cycle he did not feel like walking and it was usually the front paws had the blood blister cycle.

Samson is now fit and well and the blood blister cycle seems to have decreased its frequency over the past couple of months.
We will now get back on track with the baby oil treatment for his skin disease and regular bathing.

It is important to remember with any change in your dog's normal habits to get them to the Vet for a check-up. It's better to be safe than sorry as the old saying goes.

Update April 2008
Samson is still travelling well and keep a stable blood gluscose with consistant monitoring of his food.

His coat has grown back and should have full fluff for the coming winter.  Will provide an update photo of him soon.
